John 14:27

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

Go Deep

Not only is CJ a hilarious storyteller, but what brought him to the CJ & Joy show in the first place took courage – and a big step of faith. In fact, it took him driving 5 hours away from home just to say one prayer! Hear all about it in today’s video.

Notes from the Life Application Study Bible

The end result of the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives is deep and lasting peace. Unlike worldly peace, which is usually defined as the absence of conflict, this peace is confident assurance in any circumstance; with Christ’s peace, we have no need to fear the present or the future. Sin, fear, uncertainty, doubt, and numerous other forces are at war within us. The peace of God moves into our hearts and lives to restrain these hostile forces and offer comfort in place of conflict. Jesus says he will give us that peace if we are willing to accept it from him. If your life is full of stress, allow the Holy Spirit to fill you with Christ’s peace (see Philippians 4:6, 7 for more on experiencing God’s peace).

Welcome to my daily life and thank you for brightening it up.
I pray about most decisions I have to make that will make an impact in my life or my families. I have never been steered wrong if I wait for God’s answer.

WAY-FM

Thank you for sharing. It will be great confirmation for others, to hear that once again God is faithful as He always is. 🙂

This could not have come at a certain time! Just last night I was praying, asking for peace, acceptance, understanding, patience…

There are a couple of unknowns in my life right now and situations that are hard to know what is the right way to handle them, and this verse….well it’s reassurance that my prayer was heard!

WAY-FM

What an awesome God! He knew exactly what you needed:) Be assured that “The heart of man plans his way but the Lord establishes his steps.” Prov 16:9

Peace. This is what I am claiming. My life is in a whirlwind. My husband thinks I cheated on him. Says he hates me and wants a divorce. I have only been faithful to him. He is believing so many lies. It is tearing me and my daughter apart. He has not come home since 3/29.

WAY-FM

Megan, this is a difficult situation. But, God is not shaken, nor unaware. He is faithful to His Word. When my life is in a “whirlwind”, I go back to the Psalms and see how David responded to the difficult things in his life. “O God, save me by your name, and vindicate me by your might. O God, hear my prayer; give ear to the words of my mouth.” Psalm 54:1-2. The whole chapter is awesome.

Megan – I could not believe what you wrote, at first I thought “did I leave a comment somehow??!” I am going through the same thing. Literally. I’m a little farther along, at almost a year of this going on. This WBSG has come at the perfect time as I’ve had to struggle with some hard decisions. I question what is the right thing to do, as I want to seek Gods will but there are so many variables and unknowns. Just knowing that my creator loves me unconditionally and He will never* leave me or forsake me is the… Read more »

I too . once had a choice between staying in a high paying , high stress position or pursuing teaching. ( not so high paying but I got to keep the stress lol) . I remember going to South Dakota, to a small town where my parents have property, no internet or cell service. It was my first two week. vacation in many years, I had many conversations with myself and with God wondering what I should do. When I returned I resigned from the position, it was a bumpy ride and I struggled for many years. I still struggle… Read more »

Kathy, That is a great testimony! Life is hard even when it is good:) The bible doesn’t say- If we have trouble, He said WHEN we have trouble. “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” James 1:2-4 A verse that I cling to for everything I face is Hebrew 4:15-16 “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses,… Read more »

Exactly what I needed! Today I’m taking a leap of faith. I woke up this morning, checked the front door and decided to take that leap of faith!! I believe that God will provide me with the money I need so my kids and I can stay on our apt. I went on a job interview yesterday and the interviewer said he liked me.I don’t have all the experience he is looking for but he told me he was satisfied with what I had.I’m trying to stay positive.

WAY-FM

Toya!!! I am rejoicing with you over the peace that God is giving you! You are right where you need to be! 2 Corinthians 5:7 says, “for we walk by faith, not by sight” We are all praying for you! God is always faithful and always good.

I remember 11 years ago when I had 3 job offers. I was worried I would pick the wrong one. I remember feeling unsure. I love to pray more now than ever, back then I didn’t know about the power of prayer. I am glad I picked the job I am in now but if I only had that courage to know how to pray it would have been easier.

WAY-FM

Oh, how we all look back and wish we trusted more or prayed more. That is when I am most grateful, because even when I didn’t know how- He was faithful. He continually grows us! So glad to hear how God met you in your time of need even when you didn’t know how to pray!!! That fills us all with such hope!!

Amen! I often wish I had prayed more during certain dark and uncertain times of my life, but looking back now, I realize God was there, as He is always is. God is good all the time, all the time God is good!

CJ, After listening to your testimony and reading the Scriptures you quoted, all I can think to say is, ‘Thank you’. (Philippians 1:3) I’m grateful for your journey and the courage you had to follow our God’s will. I’m once again reminded that fear is a lack of trust which is ultimately what keeps me in bondage to pride. Reading further verses 8 and 9 of chapter 4 in Philippians, I now understand the simple antidote to Satan’s lie which is to create discord through fear. I love you my brother and your name is written in my Bible next to… Read more »

Thank you CJ for this testimony. It is exactly what I needed to hear today. I have felt impressed to not continue in my current teaching position when this school year comes to an end. Right now I don’t see any fincial opportunities on the horizon that would replace my current part-time work. However, God keeps reminding me that He has always provided exactly what we needed even when it’s been scary to step out in faith. I believe He is calling me to a new vision and that I don’t need all the details yet, just to trust Him.… Read more »

This is great! I’m horrible with change. I appreciate it after the fact, but walking through it is painful for me. I too have driven to a new job and prayed as well as recently a new apartment building. Then the next thing I know the most preferred apartment that I was told was a huge long shot that I wouldn’t get just opened up and I was able to secure it. I’m going through a divorce and it’s hard to decide if you should keep the big house or move and raise your child in an apartment. I came… Read more »

This was a great story. Thank you for sharing. I am usually unsure of my decision even when I pray. At this time I know without a shadow of a doubt there is more the Lord has for me, I’m just not sure what it is. I pray for direction and guidance, but I do not know yet what it is. I need prayer for I’m the type of person that likes to know. Ahhh maybe that is the problem gotcha. I will continue to wait and pray.

The most awesome sermon I ever heard on knowing the path comes from Psalm 119:105. “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” It was pointed out to me that when you walk with a lamp (flashlight nowadays) you can only see what is right in front of you. If we could see everything, it might be overwhelming. God has only called us to step out onto the path and follow His Light!

I was faced with a similar situation this past school year. I was in a teaching position that carried a lot of stress and mental unrest. After talking and praying with my husband, we decided that I would let my admin know I wasn’t coming back next school year. I had to believe that a god would place me where he wanted me. I told my husband how afraid I was, and he said “Just give it to God, have faith!” Fast forward, I am in a position that I love, in a school that I love, with a very… Read more »

Mindy, Thanks for sharing. It is always awesome to hear what happens when you did what your husband suggested, “Just give it to God, have faith!” Sometimes the path is not so clear, or easy, but He promises to never leave us nor forsake us!

You are where God wants you to be CJ! Years ago I changed jobs and it was a decision I didn’t have a lot of time to make. Through prayer I knew I needed to make the move and God blessed me abundantly with a great job I loved and had so much fun at, as well as great co-workers and new friends. Love listening to you and Joy every afternoon. Y’all make me laugh and bring joy in my commute home 💜

I haven’t ever driven 5 hours to pray about something specific, but in all my decisions for the last 4 years or so I have sought God’s guidance. This doesn’t mean that the decisions don’t still come with fear, but I pray that those feelings diminish as I work on turning things over to Him more.

WAY-FM

Sounds like the perfect recipe for peace!

That whisper…I have been hearing that a lot lately in a world full of noise. It is also a reminder of the restoration of Elijah. We have to be in tune with that whisper, that inexplicable aha moment when we finally say I hear you Lord.

Thanks CJ for sharing your story today. As always,I couldn’t wait to get home from work to read today’s lesson. I really like the living translation explaining His have us a gift. His gift of peace. Diana, thanks for sharing. A verse I have shared several times today is Proverbs 16:9 “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” Another verse that helps me keep the correct perspective is from Psalms 37:4-5 “Delight yourself in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.” I always have to remember, God has called me to love and obey Him. He will work out the rest. 🙂

This really hit home for me today. We have been struggling with a decision to make a move out of state, to be closer to family. This is a huge leap of faith, with so many unknowns, but I feel God is opening doors, and guiding the way for us to make this move.

Thank you for sharing your story CJ. I am recently going through something very similiar. After working in HR, in the substance abuse field I was recently offered a position working for a christian school. I am beyond excited, but I have also been a lot like you and seeking that neon sign from God. He has recently given me confirmation that I am to be there, so I am at peace and so excited to meet him on my new journey and career path. Btw. I also have a 10month old and 6 year old. I love this! Twenty years ago, before God blessed with children, He called us to be a one income family and to homeschool. I thought that was scary because we hadn’t just bought a house based on both our incomes and we’d didn’t even have kids! However, two years later we were blessed with our first born and I resigned from my job the day I went into labor. Now, eighteen years later, our oldest is graduating, whom we have homeschooled from the very beginning. God is so faithful and will always provide! God has called my son into the… Read more »

Thanks for sharing your story CJ. I recently had to make a big decision in my career. I had the opportunity to get promoted, and all of my co workers wanted me to get the job but in my heart i didn’t feel right about it, but i struggle a lot with being a “people pleaser” me and my husband prayed and prayed about it and i was freaking out because it seemed so good to take the job. Enjoyed CJ’s testimony. So many of our decisions come down to the question, will we trust God to guide us? Like CJ, the answer is not always tangible in the sense that You’re hearing an audible voice about what decision you should make. Searching the Word daily, coming before God regularly, meditating I.e., just being still, waiting, pondering, are often the ways God reveals his will for you. He gave you a brain to go with an obedient heart and soul. Those things combined with the common sense he also gives you will help your decision making process.
