You made it to Day 4! Just a reminder, if you ever need prayer as you work through these topics, please comment below or visit WAY-FM’s Prayer Wall. We’d love to pray for you and encourage you!

Read (from the New Living Translation)

1 Samuel 17:26

David asked the soldiers standing nearby, “What will a man get for killing this Philistine and ending his defiance of Israel? Who is this pagan Philistine anyway, that he is allowed to defy the armies of the living God?”

Go Deep

Have you ever looked at your problems and thought, “This is just too big.” Joy Summers (of CJ & Joy) has been there, too!! In today’s video, Joy gets into the details of how we can start looking beyond our fears and at a God who is bigger than we can imagine!

Notes from the Life Application Study Bible

What a difference perspective can make. Most of the onlookers saw only a giant. David, however, saw a mortal man defying almighty God. Goliath was a target too big to miss. He knew he would not be alone when he faced Goliath; God would fight with him. He looked at his situation from God’s point of view. Who or what are the “giants” you are facing?

Thank you for the tools when those fears creep in at 2am

WAY-FM

Isn’t it frustrating that the enemy attacks us often in the middle of the night when we feel weak and exhausted. He is smart but we can arm ourselves with God’s word to keep our minds out of fearful anxiety ridden thoughts! So thankful you are doing the WBSG with us!

thanks for saying this. There have been times of giving into frustration and not read my bible and then after I would feel empty for not feeding on God’s word. The enemy uses it to draw me away from God. Then I refuse to listen to his lies and garbage and then the next morning comes and God gives me another chance and he does and he did and here I am.

this really spoke to my situaton! I left a job after 15 years! because of being bullied( a Goliath) by a physician! re-establishing myself in a new place at 54 years old… and driving so much farher away has been very difficult! but I know my God put me in a better environment! and this biggest small group has helped SO much! I listen every morning! FEAR IS A LIAR!! thankyou sooo much! God is so faithful🙏🙏

Great perspective! Another thought I had when watching the video… David says that God rescued him from the lion and the bear, so he would rescue him from Goliath. David already had two intense/stressful experiences, and they prepared him for meeting with Goliath. That means that the experiences I’m going through now may be preparing me for something else, something greater. There is a purpose! Definitely gives a good perspective for what we all deal with.

I agree that GOD allows trias in our lives to prepare us for other things and also to relate to others going through the same thing.

Thanks so much for sharing that insight. You’re exactly right. The circumstances that we face today and in our present help prepare us for the future. I am really struggling to lay down an issue I’m faced with right now, but it is minuscule in comparison to what I have been through already. After all, “I Can Do ALL things through Christ who gives me strength.” It’s such a great feeling to know we serve a LIVING God who has already walked where we are walking today and has overcame the obstacles that bind us. Sarcher, one day at a time. Yesterday a lady name Allyssa spoke some profound words to me and I got out of bed, showered and combed my hair. I didn’t do anything else.I couldn’t do anything else. I didn’t want to do anything else. I cried almost the entire time I showered and amazingly I felt better when I got out.You got out! Thank you for getting out.😂😂 You thought you couldn’t, but you ! Please pray for my 1 year old daughter who has had severe sinus problems since December. I took her to an ENT and if removing dairy and trying a different antibiotic doesn’t work, she will need to have surgery. Also pray for my oldest 7 year old daughter and her behavior. Jamie, Make sure you give the baby plenty of water. It will keep her hydrated and flush some of the mucus out of her body at the same time. Also, add a couple of drops of Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar to her water every time you give her water and slowly she’ll get better(2-3 days) For your older daughter, take her out. Sounds like your daughter has a personality type that is harder for you to understand than in your other two daughters. I’ve had a difficult time with mine and am understanding her better after reading the Child Whisperer. I don’t buy into all of the author’s spiritual beliefs but the book has really helped. Sometimes, our kids are just struggling to be understood. Not saying she doesn’t have a medical condition, because kids aren’t immune, but angry meltdowns meltdowns usually occur because a child doesn’t feel their needs are being met. Determined and serious, analytical children have a harder time… Read more »

This is reminding me of something I’ve been praying about as well as I’ve talked to my mom about. We are programmed to see the struggles and trials ahead of us as something fearful, as something that we dread. And many times we look back on things as stressful. But God was and is with us through it all. So why not be thankful for the struggles and trials instead. Thankful that you’re not facing any of it on your own.

WAY-FM

Wow Liz, so true that we dont need to stress and worry about things but we still do right? I hope I can CHOOSE thankfulness instead as well!

Boy did I ever need today’s lesson! It’s so easy to compare our struggles against our own abilities yet by comparing it to God like David does is the first step to victory. I feel like today’s lesson was specifically for me as I’ve been really struggling lately. Thanks for the lesson.

After watching the video and reading how Joy dealt with her fear, I began to read my daily devotion. Psalm 94:19 “ When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.” How great is our God who not only brings joy to our lives daily but today he brings Joy to us in video. 😉

After losing my job due to my faith, I am seeking employment once again. The enemy keeps telling me, “No one wants you. You’re not equipped. You’re too old. You’re not employable material.” I love Joy’s testimony. It gives me strength to say, “Who are you to defy the power of the Living God? Who are you to tell me anything? I am covered by the blood of Jesus and I am a child of the Most High God!”

WAY-FM

I would like to encourage you with some scripture to remind you that God is with you. There is no if to the equation. That “if” comes from the enemy.

Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

I know a person who is having issues and he is angry at his situation I don’t want to say too much because He is trusting me. Question, since being here on this devotional I am thinking that it would help him, so if he wanted to be here what do I do to get this to him, he is in Nigeria does that make a difference?

Joy, your words this morning are the words I need to hear. The enemy has been coming hard at me for the past year. Last night friends pointed out to me this is not of my doing but maybe lessons that the other one involved needs to learn. In the mean time I am being destroyed. I am trying so hard to rest in the Lord. I feel weak and struggle every day. I KNOW GOD IS BIGGER! And it is not in my time, it is in His.

A friend told me about it is in God’s timing he related it to Abraham and Sarah. They were very old when they had Isaac, it was all in God’s time. Abraham and Sarah if they had Isaac at an earlier age maybe he wouldn’t of been able to do what God asked him to do when he brought Isaac to be a burnt offering, thankfully God spared Isaac by showing him the lamb. I am bringing this up because I feel that it fits here

Staring at a stop sign
Watching people drive by
T mac on the radio
Got so much on your mind
Nothing’s really going right
Looking for a ray of hope
Whatever it is you may be going through
I know he’s not gonna let it get the best of you
You’re an overcomer
Stay in the fight ’til the final round
You’re not going under
‘Cause God is holding you right now
You might be down for a moment
Feeling like it’s hopeless
That’s when he reminds you
That you’re an overcomer
You’re an overcomer

Thanks Joy for the encouraging words!! Sometimes in the midst of our own personal “giants” we cower and fear that we are uncapiable of defeating this on our own. Not realizing that we can not do anything on our own, but with God we can overcome anything. God is our salvation & steady rock in the midst of all the storms.

What’s worst is when the anxiety makes me feel like God is too far away. Sometimes I get terrible anxiety while trying to pray because I feel like he no longer hears me and that scares me more than anything.

WAY-FM

You’re not alone, Amy. There are many believers (if not most) who don’t always feel “close” to God while praying, myself included. And yet God promised He’d never leave us – I love to meditate on Psalm 139 when I don’t feel that He is near. Praying for you! This study on Fear has come at a time in my life when I really need it. Unfortunately, fear and anxiety has held me back from achieving certain things in my life. I know fear is a tool in my enemy’s hand that he uses to keep me defeated, but I also know my God, and His armor that He has given me to wear, is more powerful than any fear that tries to overwhelm me. I know this and believe it, but it is hard to live it at times.
